What is Windham Bigg Play, Inc.?

Bigg Play (Baseball International Goodwill Games Promoting Learning and Advancement of Youth) is an organization dedicated to Windham- area Youth and International Baseball.

Windham Bigg Play, Inc. was formed after an historic trip by two baseball teams from Poland to Willimantic, CT in 1994 to play teams drawn from the local Little League program. Our first endeavor was a two-week trip to Poland in the summer of 1996 by fourteen players aged 13-15 and six adult coaches/chaperones. One of the most striking effects of the trip was the appreciation each young player developed for another culture, language and environment. All made many new friends and some renewed friendships begun in 1994.

In 1997
Bigg Play hosted the first Willimantic International Invite. Bigg Play coordinated tours for two youth baseball teams from Poland and one from Russia. Willimantic hosted both groups and also developed an itinerary of other cities in Connecticut and the Northeast. In addition to baseball competition, the touring teams had the opportunity to live with host families, participate in local and regional recreational activities and visit cultural and historical sites.

In 1998
Bigg Play completed a successful 2-week goodwill baseball exhibition tour of Denmark and Sweden.

In 1999
Bigg Play hosted a 20- member baseball team from Beijing, China. This group was sponsored by Beijing International Sports Exchange (BISEC).

In 2000
Bigg Play completed a successful 2- week goodwill exhibition tour of China. Cities visited included Beijing, Wu Xi, Suchow and Shanghai.

In 2002
Bigg Play completed a successful 12-day goodwill exhibition tour of Poland and Italy. Cities visited included Osielsko, Miejska-Gorka, Poland and Rome, Italy.

In 2004
Bigg Play completed a successful 12-day goodwill exhibition tour of China. Cities visited included Beijing, Tianjin and Qianhuangdao.

In 2006
Bigg Play completed a successful 12-day goodwill exhibition tour of China. Cities visited included Beijing, Tianjin and Xi’an.

In 2008

Bigg Play completed a successful 11-day goodwill exhibition tour of the Netherlands and Poland. Cities visited included Amsterdam, Oldenzaal, Henge3lo, Berlin, Poznan, Wroclaw, Miejska Gorka and Warsaw.
